KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) - A sailor who represented the Cayman Islands in two Olympics is missing at sea and officials say they are losing hope of rescuing him.
Police Marine Commander Ian Yearwood says authorities are still looking for Mark Clarke but believe it is "extremely unlikely that he would be found alive." Clarke went fishing early Monday and his unmanned 25-foot sailboat was found lodged on a northern Grand Cayman reef the next day.
Clarke sailed for the British territory at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and Atlanta in 1996. He has also won numerous national championships.
Cayman Islands Olympic Committee President Donald McLean says the weather was "perfect" when Clarke disappeared.
Police marine, air and land units have scoured the area to no avail. Numerous boat owners have assisted.
