TORONTO (AP) - A judge has ordered the release of police documents in the drug case against a friend of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.
A lawyer for various Canadian news organizations that pushed to release the records said the case against Alexander Lisi involves the mayor. Media attorney Peter Jacobsen had access to the documents while arguing the case for their release.
Ford faced allegations earlier this year that he was caught on video smoking crack cocaine. The AP has not seen the video, which has not been released publicly. Ford says the video does not exist.
The mayor declined to comment Wednesday on the case against Lisi, who is charged with marijuana trafficking and possession. Lisi is an occasional driver for Ford.
Prosecutor Tom Andreopoulos said the documents will be released Thursday.
