OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) - Canada's prime minister says Russia's actions against Ukraine are "aggressive, militaristic and imperialistic" and it's time everyone recognizes the depth and seriousness of that threat.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Monday "Russian provocateurs sent by the Putin regime" are occupying 10 buildings in eastern Ukraine. Harper says it represents the most significant threat to peace and stability in the world since the end of the Cold War.
He says Putin is determined to turn the clock back and it will fail.
Foreign Minister John Baird says he doesn't know who the "Russian federation thinks it's kidding when it tries to pretend that it has nothing to do with them."
Harper met with the ambassadors of Ukraine, Estonia, Poland and Latvia.
