LONDON (AP) - British police have charged a man with attempted murder in connection with a $65 million jewelry robbery in London last month.
Police said Saturday they charged 24-year-old Aman Kassaye with attempted murder, conspiracy to rob and unlawful imprisonment. Six other men have already been charged with conspiracy to rob.
The robbery at Graff Diamonds in the upscale Mayfair neighborhood on Aug. 6 grabbed worldwide headlines. Police say two well-dressed men walked into the shop and pulled out handguns, ordering a staff member to put 43 pieces into a bag.
Watches, rings, bracelets and necklaces were taken, with a retail value of more than 40 million pounds ($65 million). Police have not said whether any of the jewels have been recovered.
