HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) - A popular tapas restaurant with three locations in the Las Vegas area is closing one its branches shortly after it received a bad evaluation from health inspectors.
Owners John and Tabitha Simmons announced Tuesday that they would be shutting the Firefly location on Eastern Avenue in Henderson.
The Simmons' statement says they wanted to focus on the two higher-performing restaurants and a new eatery in the works called Tacos & Beer.
The announcement comes two weeks after the Henderson restaurant received 38 demerits and a 'C' grade during a health inspection. That's three marks short of the grade that would prompt an automatic closure.
A follow-up inspection yielded eight demerits and restored an 'A' grade.
A separate Firefly restaurant was tied to a salmonella outbreak last spring that sickened hundreds.
