Study: Douglas is Nevada's Healthiest County

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A new study rates Douglas County as Nevada's
healthiest county, while Mineral County ranks the least healthy.

The national study released Tuesday was conducted by the Robert
Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

It measures factors such as adult smoking and obesity, excessive
drinking and the rate of motor vehicle deaths, as well as the
quality of clinical care and the ease of access to doctors.

It also rates social factors including the violent crime rate,
income and education.

Elko, Lincoln, Washoe and Lyon counties completed the top five
in the study's rankings. The least healthy counties, in descending
order, were Carson City, White Pine, Lander, Nye and Mineral
Counties.

The most populous of the 17 counties, Clark, ranked 10. Tiny
Esmeralda County wasn't ranked.
