Stomach Bug Making Kids Sick

RENO, Nev. - A powerful stomach bug has been making several students sick in Washoe County over the past few weeks.

Four different schools will be getting extra attention. While not as serious as the Swine Flu cleanup at Mendive in 2009, the procedure is just as involved.

Special custodial staff are brought in to bleach and sanitize high traffic areas.

A connected message went out to all parents at the schools, letting them know about the type of illness and asking them to please keep sick children home for 72 hours.

So far, the results have been positive and two schools have reduced their absences.

The Washoe County School District wants to remind parents about a special list of health tips and information about childhood illnesses on their website.
