CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - State and local health officials say
there has been one confirmed case of salmonella poisoning in Nevada that appears linked to tainted ground turkey.
Jennifer Sizemore of the Southern Nevada Health District says
the victim was from Clark County and did not require
hospitalization. The case occurred in late June.
Nationwide, the federal Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention says 76 people in 26 states have been made sick and one
person died. Officials say the salmonella strain appears to be
resistant to many commonly prescribed antibiotics.
The CDC says the illnesses date back to March.
