Retired Police Captain Rides Cross-Country for ALS

What is starting out as a group effort will soon turn into a one man cross country trip.

David Allison, who recently retired after 30 years of public service as a Police Captain with the Roseville California Police Department, will be riding his bicycle from California to Virginia in support of Tim Guardino his friend and fellow public safety servant.

Guardino is a California State Parks Ranger and is battling ALS, and both the disease and the financial burden are taking a toll on his family.

Allison's challenge will be unsupported as he will be traveling alone, but you can follow his progress and join in the adventure by checking in with him on his blog. He plans to post as often as possible and will include photos as he goes.

Patrol Deputies from the Washoe County Sheriffs office provided a Motorcycle escort for the group as the made their way up and over the Mt. Rose Highway today.
