WASHINGTON - A nationwide recall of frozen chicken meals is in effect due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The 2,486 pounds of frozen chicken meals are being recalled by Traditions, a Peal, Mississippi establishment, due to the product containing milk, a known allergen, which is not printed on the label, according to FSIS.

The recalled products were distributed to restaurants and stores nationwide, according to FSIS.

This is not something individuals can buy at a grocery store.

During a routine label review, it was discovered that milk was not labeled. Milk is a subingredient of butter flavoring used in the frozen chicken meals. The problem happened after a change in formulation which resulted in milk being left off of the label, according to FSIS.

Consumers should contact Sherry Goodwin, Customer Service Representative, at (601) 420-8847.
