CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada state Sen. Greg Brower is having reservations about a state law setting up a distribution process for medical marijuana.
The Reno Republican and former U.S. attorney says he reluctantly supported the law in the 2013 Legislature.
On Monday he reminded county representatives and members of the Advisory Commission on the Administration of Justice that marijuana is still illegal under federal law.
Brower's comments came as the panel received an update on how the state is proceeding with regulations to implement a distribution system for people who how hold medical marijuana cards to legally obtain the drug.
Nevada voters approved medical marijuana in 2000.
Counties and cities are taking a wait-and-see approach or have imposed moratoriums on pot establishments pending final state regulations.
