Melatonin to Help Kids Sleep? Some Doctors Say "No"

Across the country, some parents having trouble getting their little ones to sleep are turning to an "all natural" supplement called Melatonin to help them get a full night's rest.

But some doctors are now warning, that Melatonin might not be as safe and natural as advertised.

ABC News reports, Melatonin in pill form is considered a dietary supplement, and the FDA doesn't regulate supplements as strictly as it regulates food and other drug products.

If you're unfamiliar with Melatonin, it is a hormone that is secreted by your brain and is present in every person's body.

And despite it being a natural chemical, some experts warn that manufactured supplements have not been clinically proven to be a healthy sleep agent.
