The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention is calling November 12-18 the annual "Get Smart About Antibiotics Week."
The CDC is reminding people about the dangers of overusing antibiotics. Doing that promotes antibiotic resistance and comprises their effectiveness.
According to the CDC, infections caused by resistant bacteria have become more common, and many bacteria have become more resistant to multiple antibiotics.
State program, non-profit and for-profit organizations will provide resources for improving antibiotic use throughout the week.
