LAS VEGAS (AP) - Health officials say the number of people who have died of the flu in the Las Vegas area so far this season is up to nine.
Officials with the Southern Nevada Health District say three of the victims were between the ages of 19 and 44. Two were between the ages of 45 and 65, and four were older than 65.
Authorities say they're mainly seeing the H1N1 strain that circulated in 2009.
This year's flu vaccine includes protection against the H1N1 strain, and officials recommend residents get a shot.
Health district officials say the flu usually peaks in January and February.
