LAS VEGAS (AP) - Health officials say they've confirmed an eighth human case of West Nile virus in southern Nevada.
The Southern Nevada Health District says Friday that a 51-year-old woman has been diagnosed with the less serious form of the illness, but hasn't been hospitalized.
West Nile has already been blamed in the death of 75-year-old woman in Clark County in recent months, and six other people have been diagnosed with the virus this year.
Four deaths in Clark County have been linked to West Nile virus since 2003.
The health district has identified West Nile-positive mosquitoes in seven ZIP codes this year, but notes that cooler temperatures and shorter daylight hours will likely reduce mosquito breeding and lower the risk of infection.
