RENO, Nev. -- Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) officials are releasing more information, including photographs, of an accident that seriously damaged a patrol car and sent a trooper to the hospital.
It happened just before 3:00am Friday just north of Minden. The trooper's patrol car was parked about five feet off the paved shoulder on southbound 395.
A blue Honda was going south toward Minden. For unknown reasons, the driver, a 16-year-old from male, drifted off the roadway and the Honda rear-ended the cruiser.
Emergency workers took both the NHP officer and the 16-year-old to Carson Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are withholding the 16-years-old's name because he is a minor who may face criminal charges.
