Westbound traffic is back open on Interstate 80 over the mountain pass.
Snow is sticking to roads in the high sierra causing spin-outs, road closures and chain controls.
There are 6 to 12 inches above 7000 feet. KOLO's Dennis Flack says, "the snow level is dropping, the cold front came through early this morning which will will drop the rain-snow line below lake level by mid-day."
The winter storm warning above 7,000 feet goes until 2 pm. Reno will not be affected by snow today, just rain on the valley floor.
The rain will be more off than on in Reno through tonight. Click on the weather tab for the complete forecast.
