Back in July, Dr. Moorison was selected as the state's top superintendent. Now, Dr. Moorison is one of four finalists throughout the United States and even Canada up for the American Association of School Administrator's National Superintendent of the Year.
Dr. Moorison says the nomination is very humbling, and says he's honored to represent an amazing school district. He credits the school district as a whole for the finalist selection.
He will be traveling to Washington D.C. in February to go before a panel of judges. He says he'll have multiple interviews about the school district and its success. Other finalists are from Delaware, North Carolina and Virginia.
If Dr. Moorison is selected, the school district will receive a $10,000 scholarship. It will be given to a selected student. Dr. Moorison says national awards like this bring attention to the school district, and sparks interests for people to make donations.
