RENO, Nev. (AP) - Sales of existing single-family homes in Washoe County last month rose to levels not seen since July 2005 before the collapse of the area's housing market.
The Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors says 571 existing single-family houses sold in Washoe County in July, up 9 percent from June and 11 percent compared to July 2012.
The group says that's the second-highest number of July sales since 2005, the height of the Reno-Sparks market that began its slide in 2006.
A string of monthly increases in the median sale price that began in January was broken in July, with a 4 percent decrease from the month before. But Association President Helen Graham tells the Reno Gazette-Journal the median price of $215,000 is still 30 percent ahead of last year's numbers.
