SPARKS, Nev. -- Participants in the second annual "Walk for Thought" bundled up for the event at Sparks Marina Saturday morning. The event organizers aim to raise awareness about brain injuries.
The walk benefits the Brain Injury Alliance of Nevada, an organization which has received a lot of community support in the last two years.
The alliance - and the walk - provide support and resources for families to deal with the complications of daily living as a result of brain injuries.
"Its something to have a voice about and be able to talk about," said chairperson Teresa Morros. "[To] have people understand that it's something we all need to come together for and that there are preventions, and the preventions start with how the body can heal itself."
Money raised goes to research and to helping local families dealing with the effects of traumatic brain injury.
