RENO, Nev.– As Washoe County schools and families prepare for the 2012-2013 school year, parents will be able to able to register their children using a new, more convenient online system that is being launched by the District this spring.
“As each school opens up their registration, parents will be able to register their children for school when it is convenient for them. The system is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is accessed through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, a system already in use by many of our parents,” said D’Lisa Crain, the administrator of the District’s Department of Family School Partnerships. “Additionally, parents will be able to register all of their children at one location. In the past, parents have had to visit each school to register their children. This new system will save parents time and better accommodate busy schedules.”
The online registration system is available to parents who are registering existing WCSD students for the next grade, students who are new to the District, or students who have not yet attended school. Additional documentation may be needed in certain instances to finish the registration process.
Dates and times for registration are determined by individual schools. Schools will notify parents when it is time to register their students. Parents who do not have access to the Internet through a home computer can use computers at their child’s school or at the public libraries, and assistance will be offered by school staff.
“The online registration system is a part of our ever-continuing effort to improve customer service and increase efficiency of Washoe County School District. This transition is great for our parents and saves the District more than $100,000 in paper costs,” WCSD Senior Director Bryn LaPenta said.
