Reno, NV - A lot of people got their green thumbs dirty Saturday morning. Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful hosted a volunteer tree planting event at three local parks: Comstock Park in South Reno, North Valleys Regional Park in the Stead area, and Golden Eagle Park in Sparks. The event was put on in honor of Make a Difference Day and Nevada Shade Tree Week. At Comstock Park, more than 50 volunteers came out to help plant 25 trees there.
"I love it," says Kari Vanderwal, a volunteer. "I grew up here coming to Comstock Park ever since I was little and it's really nice to help make it look really nice for the next generation to come."
"It was pretty hard work and the tree was actually really really heavy," says Jasmine Whitbeck, another volunteer. "But it was fun. I had a lot of fun!
Organizers say a total of 140 trees were planted.
