RENO, NV - The community has been touched by the story of Jonathan Blunk, the 26-year-old father of two who was killed in last week's Colorado movie theater shooting.
Blunk grew up in Reno, but was living in Colorado to work. His wife, Chantel, and two young children still live in Sparks. Jonathan was actually scheduled to fly home last Saturday for a visit.
Chantel Blunk says it is her goal to get Jonathan's body flown back to Reno so that he could have a military burial. Jonathan served five years in the Navy, but since he was no longer on Active Military status, the government was not going to pay for his body to be sent back to Reno. However, the community has stepped forward and offered their support in the form of aid and donations.
If you would still like to donate to the Blunk family, you can make a donation at any Wells Fargo Bank where an account has been set up under the Bring Johnny Home Fund. The account number is 8966815063.
