Dead Man ID'ed in Officer-Involved Shooting

RENO, NV - The victim in Friday's officer-involved shooting downtown has been identified.

According to Washoe County sheriff's investigators, 41-year-old Jace Herndon of Reno was shot and killed by a Reno PD officer on Court St. just after 3:00 p.m.

Herndon was the driver of what police say was a stolen car. He and two others were pulled over in a "high-risk felony traffic stop" before the officer-involved shooting occured. Police initially labeled him as a "victim/suspect".

No word yet on what exactly led the officer to shoot.

The four officers involved have been placed on a routine administrative leave.

The investigation is ongoing.
