RENO, NV - There were very few DUI arrests on New Year's Eve and into this morning. The Nevada Highway Patrol reports that out of over 275 traffic stops only seven motorists were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Most of the motorists that were pulled over were designated drivers.
Around 1am, a 31 year old Sun Valley woman suffered minor injuries when she was hit by a car on Sun Valley Blvd near E. 2nd Avenue. She used the crosswalk when it was a red light. She suffered a leg injury and was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center. Her blood alcohol level was slightly more than three times the legal limit. She was cited for failing to obey a traffic control device. The driver who hit her was not cited.
The NHP also responded to 14 vehicles that broke down along the highway and five crashes are being investigated. Three of those crashes had minor injuries.
