CARSON CITY -- The Carson City Sheriff's Office is investigating a weekend vandalism spree. The spree left at least ten windows broken at Carson Middle School, according to principal Dan Sadler.
"It's disappointing to come to see your school that's just been recklessly vandalized," he said.
Sadler said at least one of the windows was broken with a rock.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said windows may have been shot out or kicked-in as well. Furlong said vehicle windows and home windows were also destroyed nearby the school. He said the vandalism happened Saturday night into Sunday morning.
A window was also broken at First United Methodist Church several blocks away.
Furlong said he is urging anyone with surveillance video from around the school at the time of the vandalism to contact his office.
Furlong said the damage is "tens of thousands of dollars."
He said the vandals were likely on-foot during the spree.
Sadler said repairing the windows would likely take away from plans to spend to enhance security at Carson Middle School.
The windows were boarded up Monday. Furlong said Monday morning his office continued to receive calls about more damage.
Anyone with information on the incident is being urged by Furlong to contact authorities.
