RENO, Nev. (AP) - Urban Outfitters Inc. has opened a new West Coast Internet sales center in northern Nevada, creating 70 jobs and promising more by next year.
Company officials say the specialty retailer expects to employ more than 100 people at the warehouse distribution center in Sparks during the holiday shopping season.
The $55 million project is two blocks from a much smaller brick-and-mortar facility Urban Outfitters opened in 2006.
A ceremony marking the opening of the 462,720-square-foot center was held Thursday.
Company officials expect to employ roughly 120 full-time workers at the location by next year and say plans already are being made for another expansion, though there is no firm timeline.
