WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (AP) - The Utah Repertory Dance Theatre is spending a week in northern Nevada this spring with performances, classes and workshops in Winnemucca and Elko.
The trip is part of the "Sense of Place" touring initiative coordinated by the Nevada Arts Council and supported by Barrick Gold of North America.
Great Basin College and Great Basin Arts & Entertainment in Winnemucca worked with members of the Salt Lake City dance company to schedule community-specific activities.
Arts Council executive director Susan Boskoff says the program provides access to quality arts experiences for people in rural parts of the state. In addition to workshops for students and seniors, she says they will collaborate with local dancers, give lectures and demonstrations and schools and provide full-length performances April 29 through May 4.
