RENO, NV~ KOLO 8 News Now has learned more details about the Carson City altercation that resulted in the death of a 61-year-old man.

Detectives believe the victim, Leon Arellano Pacheco, got into a verbal altercation with 29-year-old Alfredo Santiago and 27-year-old Ruri Santiago, as well as three other men at the Stanton Arms Apartment Complex. Investigators determined that the men involved were all acquaintances and possibly intoxicated at the time.

According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office, Pacheco was pushed by one of the men. He then ran to his car and retrieved a "large metal stick that looked similar to a machete". Pacheco attempted to strike the men before being overpowered.

Pacheco's stick was then taken from him and he was hit in the face with a bottle before being kicked in the head, stomach and back, says CCSO. The suspects then fled the area in a brown car, possibly a Chevy Impala.

Authorities confirmed after interviewing witnesses that Ruri Santiago assaulted Pacheco and was later taken into custody without incident.

Santaigo also had an outstanding warrant from Carson City Justice Court.

Four hours later, sheriff's officers found Alfredo Santiago and he was also taken into custody without incident.

Both men have been charged with Battery Causing Substantial Bodily Harm. Although bail is set at $15,000 each, both have additional immigration holds placed on them for deportation proceedings following the resolution of the criminal charges.

CPR was attempted on Pacheco on scene. He was then transported to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center before being sent to Renown Medical Center where he was pronounced dead on Friday, April 11th.
