Two Reno Casino Families Mourning Deaths

RENO, Nev. -- Members of two Reno casino families died within days of one another.

Verna Harrah was married to casino magnate Bill Harrah from 1974 until his death in 1978. She was also a philanthropist and film producer. According to the Reno Gazette-Journal, Verna Harrah died June 29th; she was 68 years old.

David (Davoud) Farahi owned the property and business that eventually became the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, Reno. The RGJ reports Farahi immigrated from Iran in 1970 and purchased the business two years later. Farahi's children took over ownership of the motel and it eventually grew into the Atlantis. Farahi died June 24; he was 96 years old.
