Reno, NV - September 21st, 2011, Officers of the Regional Gang Unit concluded an investigation related to an armed robbery and a shooting case. The armed robbery took place on September 17th in the 4500 block of Mira Loma drive. Three suspects, all armed with handguns, confronted what they believed were rival gang members (based only on their attire) and robbed the victim of some of his clothing.
The shooting occurred on September 18th in the 4600 block of Mira Loma. Four to Five suspects were involved in this case and again mistakenly identified what they felt were rival gang members and confronted them. The suspects chased the victim and fired numerous rounds from a firearm at the victim and into a residence.
Both of these crimes were gang related and two suspects were arrested and charged for their involvement. Eduardo Rios and Julian Florido were charged with assault with a deadly weapon and robbery with a deadly weapon in reference to the crime on September 17th. Julian Florido was also charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and assault with a deadly weapon for the crime on September 18th. Both suspects were charged with Gang Enhancements related to these offenses.
Evidence from the crimes was located on scene of the original offenses as well as from a search warrant served at the address of the suspects. The investigation continues into these cases and will be handled by Detectives of the Regional Gang Unit.
