Alcohol Believed to be a Factor in Deadly I-580 Crash

Two people are dead after a crash that happened in Reno early Saturday morning.

RENO, NV - Two people are dead after a crash that happened in Reno early Saturday morning.

The crash happened on Saturday, April 5, 2014, around 3:30 a.m. on northbound I-580 at Plumb Lane.

Preliminary NHP reports indicate Kenneth C. Lee, 23, was driving the wrong way, heading south in the northbound transition lane of I-580, according to Trooper Garretson.

Garretson says it is believed Lee drove onto northbound I-580 from the Plumb Lane northbound off ramp.

Hans-Hartmut Kaesgen, 71, was traveling northbound on I-580 in the transition lane, approaching the Plumb Lane exit, according to Trooper Garretson, who says Lee's car hit the front of Kaesgen's car.

Lee and Kaesgen were pronounced dead on scene.

The passenger and wife of Kaesgen, Nancy C. Kaesgen, 70, was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center with serious injuries, according to Trooper Garretson.

She says alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to this crash.

Nancy Kaesgen remains in critical condition at Renown Regional Medical Center.
