SPARKS, NV - Sparks police have cited two people they say sold alcohol to minors during a sting.
Wednesday, police used an underage decoy who attempted to buy alcohol from 15 establishments in Sparks that are licensed to sell alcohol. 13 of the 15 businesses refused to sell alcohol to the underage decoy.
Police say two businesses did sell to the decoy. The clerk at the 7-11 at 1620 El Rancho, Juliet Woods, sold to the underage person and was cited. The owner of Nemo's Market at 445 Wright Way, Norbert Hathwaik, also sold to the decoy and was cited.
The following businesses checked the ID of the decoy and refused to sell alcohol: Ben's Liquor at 2990 N. McCarran, The Mexico Lindo at 1825 Prater, The Chevron at 1600 Victorian, the C-Mart at 829 C St, Pyramid Discount Liquor at 300 Pyramid, the 7-11 at 250 Pyramid, the Scolaris at 950 Holman, Pauls Market at 1550 Vance, Raley's at 2895 N. McCarran, Spiros at 1475 E. Prater, the 7-11 at 1490 E. Prater, Sparky's at 1450 E. Prater, and the Maverik at 1223 E. Prater.
The Sparks Police Department would like to thank all the businesses for properly training their employees to check ID's and not sell alcohol to underage people.
