RENO, NV - During the holidays, needy families depend upon the kindness of others to provide them with a Thanksgiving dinner.

The Carson City Salvation Army is asking the public to donate frozen turkeys during the annual Turkey Round Up this Friday, November 22, 2013, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., according to an official with the Salvation Army of Carson City. Officials say these turkeys help needy clients.

Officials say they've had a great start with receiving donations, however, 1,400 turkeys are still needed to meet the need of all the families that registered for help.

People can donate frozen turkeys by dropping them off at the Turkey Round Up at Mike's Pharmacy located at 1007 North Curry St in Carson City on Friday, November 22, 2013. Donations will be accepted from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

People can also donate frozen turkeys at the annual Turkey Drop at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.

Officials with the Turkey Drop say people can donate frozen turkeys and/or cash to help fill The Salvation Army's food baskets to help families in need in Northern Nevada.

Those wishing to donate can visit the West End Parking Lot of the Atlantis on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
