SPARKS, NV - Sparks fire crews have put out a fire in a large trash compactor on Franklin Way, at Sims Metal Management in the industrial section of the city.
The fire produced lots of thick black smoke easily seen from much of the Truckee Meadows. Investigators say the fire started when workers were cutting metal and fiberglass filters, and sparks from that activity started the fire.
No one was hurt.
