Washoe Fire 100 Percent Contained, 29 Homes Destroyed

The Washoe Fire is 100 percent contained and all evacuations have been lifted.

A total of 3,177 acres burned and 29 homes destroyed in the fire that started 12:45 p.m., Thu.

One fatality reported. Officials say the body of 93-year-old June Hargis was found in the fire's aftermath, but it wasn't immediately known if her death was fire related.

Saturday, firefighters will focus on mopping up around structures and continue to patrol the area.

 As a reminder, drivers having to travel on highway 395 are asked to use extra caution as crews and apparatus are still actively working.

The Reno Fire Department will be taking over any furture operations.
