This weekend is filled with Valentines-themed parties and events. But not at Sierra Gold on South Meadows. Friday night they threw an anti-Valentine’s Day bash that attracted a huge crowd.
“Our corporate company said we should do a Valentine’s Day party and we just figured hey, let’s go anti-Valentine,” Sierra Gold General Manager Carrie Daniel said. “We have a lot of singles in here and people are loving it, they think it’s hysterical.”
The restaurant had a giant dart board set up in the entryway. Singles were encouraged to throw darts at pictures of their exes for free shots.
“When people walk in and see the dartboard with all the anti-Valentine’s Day sayings all over it, they love it,” Daniel said.
Shawna and Larry Weber showed up for what they called their last date. That’s because they’re getting divorced. Both were excited to throw darts at each other’s pictures. There was just one problem.
“You tell the story because you messed up,” Shawna Weber said.
“I forgot them,” Larry Weber said.
No matter. Management decided paper napkin drawings could be substituted for actual photographs.
“We’re still good friends, best friends,” Shawna said. “We wanted to throw darts at each other’s faces even though we forgot the pictures.”
Sierra Gold has been promoting the party all week and they hope to turn it into an annual event.
“Turnout’s been great, there’s not an empty table in the house,” Daniel said. “This is definitely going to be a tradition from now on.”
Though the Webers weren’t sure about making it an annual thing.
“I don’t want to get divorced every year,” Larry said.
:”Me neither,” Shawna said.
