CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a 14-year-old girl was Tasered at Carson Middle School.
Carson City Sheriff's Sgt. Darrin Sloan tells the Nevada Appeal the teen was in the dean's office when a deputy tried to handcuff her for a probation violation and she became combative.
Sloan says Deputy Jessica Rivera used her Taser to subdue the teen.
Officials say the girl was treated at the scene and taken for a medical evaluation before being incarcerated.
Superintendent Richard Stokes says the school is investigating the incident. Sheriff Ken Furlong says a use-of-force report will be prepared and will go to the undersheriff for review.
Furlong says he can only remember one other time in the past 10 years when a department member used a Taser on a juvenile.
