FERNLEY, Nev. (AP) - A 16-year-old girl is dead after the SUV her father was driving lost control on a wintery stretch of Interstate 80 just east of Fernley.
As KOLO 8 News Now first reported Saturday morning, Nevada Highway Patrol officials say they responded to the crash about 9 a.m. on December 15th.
Officials say a family from the Winnemucca area was riding in a 1999 Ford Expedition when the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled.
Authorities say Yesica Juanes was ejected and died at the scene. Troopers a 15-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy, the driver, and the children's mother were taken to the hospital and have since been released.
Officials say the parents had been wearing seatbelts, but the three siblings weren't restrained at the time.
