quagga clean up
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Boat launches at Cave Rock and Sand Harbor on Lake Tahoe's east shore will be closed on Christmas and
New Year's Day.
The Nevada Division of State Parks says boat inspections or decontaminations will not be available on either of those days.
Officials say the closures are due to the holidays and program staff shortages.
Normal winter hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at Cave Rock and 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends at Sand Harbor.
Boat inspections are required as part of an effort to keep invasive species such as quagga and zebra mussels out of Lake Tahoe.
Inspectors for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency program are
provided by the Tahoe Resource Conservation District.
