KOLO 8 News Now's Angela Chen tells us Reed High School is no longer on lockdown. The suspicious package turned out to be a student's backpack.
SPARKS, NV - Tracy Moore with Washoe School District Police confirmed Reed High was under a precautionary Code Yellow "set in place"-type lockdown because of a suspicious package on campus. At the time, nobody was allowed to enter of leave the school.
X-rays were taken of the package to see what's in it.
School police said the package was found during a sweep of the school instigated after a report of an explosion at Spanish Springs. Police urged all local schools to sweep for suspicious activity. The Spanish Springs incident turned out not to be an explosion.
