Suspect Arrested in Reno Toddler Death Case

RENO, Nev. (AP) - A Reno man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after his girlfriend's 19-month-old son died of injuries.

Reno police say they responded to an apartment on Lakeside Avenue about 11 a.m. Wednesday. Emergency crews found the toddler unresponsive and took him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives say the mother had gone to work that morning and left her 22-year-old boyfriend, Donald Jackson, to babysit the child. Jackson talked to other tenants that morning asking for help because the boy was cold and not breathing.

A medical examiner found the toddler had numerous internal injuries from blunt force. Detectives interviewed Jackson and later arrested him.
