VIRGINIA CITY, NV - Storey County voters are getting the chance to meet candidates who are running for public office.

The Comstock Residents Association (CRA) is hosting a series of events to help voters get to know the candidates and their positions. The first event will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, August 1st at the Storey County Community Center on 175 Carson St. in Virginia City.

Robin Cobbey, Chairperson for the CRA, says, “We want to give the community an opportunity to get one-on-one with each of the four candidates for Storey County Commission, to express concerns and have questions answered.”

“There are so many issues beyond the currently hot topic of mining
in a historic district that we, as a community, need to address with
these candidates," he continues. "After all, once elected, they will have the responsibility for the future health and welfare of Storey County residents.”

During the first event, voters can meet candidate Lance Gilman, a
businessman, brothel owner, and sales and marketing director for the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center. Gilman is running for commissioner Bob Kershaw's seat. Kershaw is not running for re-election.

Details on future events to meet other candidates will be announced later this week.
