RENO, NV - Students at Stead Elementary School will spend their summer telling people they go to the "Kindest School in America".
That's because the kids gathered more than 2,000 pairs of shoes and donated them to children in Kenya. The kids also participated in the National African American Read-In, where they read books written by African American authors.
Wednesday, June 11th, 2014, the school earned the title as the "Kindest School in America" because of the outstanding generosity and achievements.
The organization behind the event, Think Kindness, attended an impromptu celebration at the school to announce the amazing work by the students. The school will receive a painting over the summer to signify being the "Kindest School in America".
