Record Temps Give Way to Spring Storm

RENO, NV - Bracing against the afternoon wind, Jeremiah and Jessica are among the few souls out for a stroll during Thursday’s spring storm. They say they're considering a move to Reno from Las Vegas, but so far they aren’t too sure about the weather. “We've heard that this winter has been pretty light for you guys,” says Jeremiah, “but this week has been pretty heavy for us so I don't know. Not our cup of tea.”

Gusting winds and occasional rain during the lunch hour left the streets around downtown mostly empty. People took shelter inside, restaurants and coffee shots like Java Jungle. “I think it's pretty typical for this time of the year,” says a customer named Joe. “I mean you get the variations in temperature you know. I'm not disappointed. I expected to be like this. It's also better than it was at this time last year“.

Recent weather has been good for business. Managers at the coffee shop say while the overcast from the storm encouraged people to come inside, weekend sunshine brought them out to the Truckee River in droves.
