SPARKS, NV - Sparks police responded to a report of a large fight on Sunday on Coney Island Drive in Sparks.
When officers arrived they saw several vehicles speeding away from a warehouse on Coney Island.
An officer was making a traffic stop gave a verbal command to the driver to exit the vehicle. The individual later identified as Noel Rodriguez-Avalos, a Reno resident, deliberately accelerated the BMV and attempted to hit the officer. The officer was able to get out of the way and was uninjured.
Other officers attempted to catch the speeding BMW. Police say Rodriguez-Avalos attempted to make a left hand turn from Mill St. onto Edison when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
Police found out that Michael Weber, a Reno resident, was holding a large party on Coney Island Drive. The party got out of hand and several people were asked to leave.
There were five juveniles at the party who were given juvenile referrals for Minor in Possession and Curfew. They would be later released to heir parents. Seven adults under 21 were cited for minor in possession. Weber was cited and released for Contributing to the Delinquency of Minors. Rodriguez-Avalos was arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Police Officer, Child Endangerment, DUI, Obstructing and Contributing to the Delinquency of Minors.
