SPARKS, NV - Washoe County detectives arrested a Sparks man for stabbing his mother several times Monday morning.
It happened around 12:53 a.m. when deputies were called out to Largo Drive in Spanish Springs on reports of a stabbing. A woman reported that her son, 36-year-old Michael Spangenberg, stabbed her several times with a knife.
When Deputies arrived, they made contact with two persons out in front of a residence. Both Spanenberg and his mother had injuries consistent with someone being a victim and another being the physical aggressor.
The subjects were treated and transported to a local hospital for further examination. Both were treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Spangenberg was arrested and transported to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility. He was booked on two felony charges; Attempted Murder and Domestic Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
Spangenberg's bail has been set at $157,500.
