SPARKS, NV - The City of Sparks is moving ahead with repairs to the C Street parking garage near Victorian Square. City documents showed there is six-hundred thousand dollars available for the project as part of the Capital Improvements Plan for the area.
The Great Basin Brewery is one of the businesses that depends on having the parking garage.
"We definitely see water dripping through the levels.. it's not the best," a server at Great Basin said.
The Sparks City Council approved a bid to seal cracks and resolve other problems. The City hired a firm to assess the garage. The firm found the structure of the garage is in good condition, but there are drainage problems. Puddles are forming, and water is flowing from floor to floor, according to City documents. The firm said the life of the garage would be shortened if the problems were not addressed.
A City spokesperson said the work will begin when the weather is warmer. He said the work will cause minimal disruption to those who use the garage, and the work will not be done during special events.
The garage was built in 1987.
