Sparks Launches Free, Public Mobile Device Application
A new way for Sparks residents to be connected.

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - The city of Sparks is launching the first official cellphone app in the state to promote attractions and services.
Mayor Geno Martini says the free IPhone app will allow visitors and residents alike to search for restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Users can also receive city news, weather, updates on special events, softball tournaments and standings, as well information about city services.
Officials say the mobile app was a goal of the city's branding and marketing team.
They say the application is currently available for IPhones, though similar apps for Android and Blackberry devices are scheduled to be released in the coming weeks.
