SPARKS, NV - The roundabout is designed to get traffic into the Legends parking lot safely and smoothly without backing up traffic with stops signs or traffic lights.
Drive through the roundabout and lanes change from single to double and that can be a problem if cars coming into the round about don't yield to you--like this truck.
“Yield and stay in their own lane. Considering there are 2 lanes in the roundabout. They don't know when to stay in their own lane or yield,” says Jacob Randolph from Sun Valley.
“And people get confused and they stop. They think its a stop sign when really its a yield. We've almost gotten into a few accidents there,” says Jackie Jacob from Sparks.
Sparks police say there have been several near misses in this roundabouts with cars, bicycles, and pedestrians.
Police say the issue lies within the actual lanes.
Vehicles are having the most problem coming in through the second and third travel lanes.
Many too aren't yielding to the cars already in the roundabout--they have the right of way. Sparks police say the fine for not yielding is $150 and four demerits.
